In the last newsletter, I discussed causes of high copper, and times when I suspect someone has high copper, also referred to as copper overload or copper toxicity.

Walsh-Pheiffer Functional Range

When those of us trained by the Walsh Research Institute look at copper and zinc levels, we use the Walsh-Pheiffer functional range. This reference range is narrower than the range provided by most labs. This means copper and zinc levels could look normal, but from a brain health perspective, they could be outside of the optimal range.

DHA Laboratory, which has a long relationship with the Walsh Research Institute, will add the Walsh-Pheiffer optimal ranges with their results (as shown below).
