Do you ever feel like you can’t easily get it together—that you have too much on your plate, you’re pulled in too many directions, nothing feels complete, everything feels chaotic and stressful, and your thoughts don’t seem to stick? That’s how I felt last week. This got me thinking about ways we can reboot our mind and body.
There are many possibilities, such as taking a walk, going out into nature, closing our eyes, and taking deep breaths. Vacations or even weekends can be a way to reset. In this newsletter, I share three specific strategies that I’ve tried.
Rebooting By Tending to Our Routine
Starting each day anew can be a reset. Getting to bed and getting up earlier helps me when I feel off track. When I do that, I tend to stick with my morning routine (exercises, meditation, brief journaling). When I stick to my morning routine, I’m more likely to be more mindful about what I eat, have more mental clarity, and feel more effective. Life feels better. It helps to know that when I get off track, I can gently pull myself back to a rhythm that works for me.

But what about when we need a bigger reset? What can we do if we need more than a pacemaker approach to return to our rhythm? What can we do if we need to be shocked (for lack of a better word) back into a rhythm?
