Thank you for sharing this information. I'm EMF sensitive and when I try to explain people look at me as though I have 3 heads. I don't have a cell phone for this reason and people think I'm weird. I've become more and more a recluse due to the EMF exposure when in public. I would like to see EMF FREE ZONES like smoke free zones were mandated. I wrote about a post (on Substack) about Grounding and electrosensitivity and the impact on a person's health.

What's weird is that modern progressive society is now orientated towards 'health and safety'. Smoking is banned in public spaces, like you say, and doing anything unhealthy is kind of taboo.

Even though wireless technology is still being deployed everywhere, and everyone is totally addicted to it, I feel the technology is doomed and the collapse of the entire industry is already underway.

It's already getting banned from schools in France and Russia and court cases are being won by EHS sufferers even when the health authorities insist the levels are 'safe' (or 'below official safety guidelines').

All we need is for more people to insist on EMF free zones in public spaces, public transport, housing and the workplace and demand this based on existing 'health and safety' grounds AND to claim the moral high ground on this issue (basically act like a non smoker surrounded by smokers).

Once wireless technology is treated as

a) a health and safety hazard

b) an environmental/ ecological catastrophe which is destroying insects, birds etc

c) a filthy, dirty shameful, selfish habit

then people will have to confront the fact that it has no future. Then investors will pull out and the collapse will begin. The more 'wireless free' zones we can establish, the more pointless the technology will become, because ubiquitous coverage is the whole point!

When employees are able to reject wireless devices on health grounds and demand the company accommodate them, then it will make little sense to use smartphones as the primary communication tool within a company, and more sense to revert back to 1990's technology for everyone.

When your average cellphone user knows 5 friends and relatives who don't use a cellphone then that reduces the value of THEIR cellphone as a practical communications device.

If we can use 'health and safety' to make businesses provide wired alternatives to all of their wireless infrastructure that suddenly makes wireless infrastructure a financial burden, rather than a cost saving.

That's why it's important to keep demanding alternatives and wifi free zones, and to act like a customer booking a non smoking airplane seat or a non smoking hotel room. Just act like this is your right and that it is their duty to accommodate you.

I think what's happened is that the very tippy top of the social hierarchy (well above the level of governments) has decided wireless is to be the future of all infrastructure moving forwards, and they've sent this message down the chain of command to the big corporations, governments, local authorities etc who have all agreed to go full speed ahead.

But the technology was never viable to begin with in the same way that plutonium topped pizzas are not a viable food. The technology was doomed from the start because the pollution (the EM radiation) is the carrier signal! If you shield the pollution to make it safe you defeat the purpose of the technology!

The greatest power we have is to make people realise just out how pointless and futile the whole enterprise is. At some point I believe the entire infrastructure is going to have to be taken down to save the environment from being frazzled (not to mention humans). It should never have been approved as a communications technology to begin with.

Helping people reach the same conclusion is our best approach. I hope we don't try to 'make it safe' because all that will do is kick the can further down the road and make removing it much harder.

One good thing is that everyone is starting to get absolutely sick of their smartphones and chronically online lives. Even young people are now learning to appreciate socialising IRL. There are even restaurants and clubs opening up where everyone hands over their phone at the door. The fact is everyone was much happier in 1995 and nobody wanted a cell phone when they were first invented, apart from a few yuppies who all got 'yuppie flu' (EHS) from their hand held bricks.

So many interesting comments here. Thank you. I'd like to think the tipping point will come sooner rather than later. To add to your points - Aside from the health, including mental health impacts from the EMF, the social isolation driven by technology has been devastating. I look forward to seeing "everyone starting to get sick of their smartphones." Thank you again.

There are a few EMF-free zones. I would love to see many more!

(list from Perplexity)

Here is a list of towns, cities, and areas known to have low EMF radiation or serve as refuges for individuals sensitive to electromagnetic fields:

United States

1. Green Bank, West Virginia

- Located in the National Radio Quiet Zone, Green Bank is a 13,000-square-mile area with strict regulations on wireless technology to protect radio telescopes. Residents are banned from using devices like cell phones and WiFi routers.

2. Snowflake EHS/MCS Community, Arizona

- Situated eight miles from Snowflake town, this community was founded for individuals with environmental illnesses, including electrical hypersensitivity (EHS). It has low electropollution, with the nearest cell tower five miles away. Homes are often built with EMF shielding materials.

3. Grass Valley (Quiet Dome), California

- A retreat in the Sierra Nevada Mountains designed to be toxin-free and electromagnetically quiet. It has no Wi-Fi or nearby cell towers and uses clean power sources.

4. Mount Shasta, California

- A rural area with natural surroundings that provide a low-EMF environment.

5. Central Idaho (Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness)

- A vast wilderness area with no cell service, making it ideal for escaping EMF radiation.

.International Locations

1. French Pyrenees, France

- Remote areas with limited cell tower presence and low population density..

2. Haida Gwaii, British Columbia, Canada

- An archipelago off the northern coast of British Columbia with minimal technological infrastructure.

3. Outer Hebrides, Scotland

- A chain of islands featuring rugged landscapes and limited EMF pollution.

4. Yunnan Province, China

- Sparsely populated rural areas with limited technological infrastructure[5].

5. Chatham Islands, New Zealand

- Remote islands east of New Zealand with minimal EMF exposure due to low population density and infrastructure.

Hi Diana. I agree. EMF FREE ZONES would be wonderful for those of us who know we are EMF sensitive (and for everyone actually). Living in a way that limits EMF exposure can feel like living in a different world. I hope you've been able to find a place that is relatively low. If you can, please share the post you wrote on Substack that would great. Thank you for commenting.

Very nice post, Courtney! I learned some new things.

I would not use Whatsapp. https://stallman.org/facebook.html

I just tried SimpleX Chat. Available in the Linux library. Works ok. Images can be added in the simplex library.

I don't use smartphone, unless something very important or an emergency.

Please note that not all states allow you to opt out of smart meters. We are planning a move to Pennsylvania and there is a law in place that disallows opting out. NJ and FL where I’ve lived do but PA does not.

Thank you, Kelly, for highlighting this. You might be interested in the video/post that I did with Eric Windheim on Smart Meters. Near the end, he describes what you can do to protect yourself if you have to have a smart meter. Here is the link: https://courtneysnydermd.substack.com/p/smart-meters-brain-symptoms-and-solutions

"If you are ready to lower EMF, meet your new best friend, an Ethernet cord. This one has a gold colored end, which means it is shielded, which limits the EMF from coming off the cord." Thank you for this tip to get a cord with a gold colored end!

This is really quite good. May I offer a few comments that I hope are helpful:

• RF Emissions from Smartphones – Verify that a smartphone in airplane mode is truly emitting no RF. Increasingly, I’m seeing cases where emissions continue despite being in airplane mode.

• On-Body Devices – Remember that non-intentional radiators, like health trackers (rings, bracelets), can still contribute to exposure even in airplane mode.

• Bedroom EMF Reduction – Simply turning off a single breaker often isn’t enough. There’s a process for identifying the right combination of breakers to effectively eliminate electric fields.

• Desk & Office Setup – Shielded Ethernet cables are best; unshielded cables can act as antennas, radiating signals--needs to be end-to-end including network infrastructure. Also, after disabling WiFi and Bluetooth, verify that the computer and peripherals are truly not emitting RF.

• Exterior of the House – Electric meters are sometimes (but not always) located on the opposite side of the wall where the electrical panel is mounted. Most smart meters use RF, but some operate via conducted emissions—both require remediation. DE must be addressed with all smartmeters. Depending on the state of residence, dramatic shielding as mentioned may cause an untenable escalation with your local utility so tread carefully.

• Car EMF Considerations – Wireless charging stations are problematic. If your vehicle has one, see if your mechanic can safely disable it. For EVs, never charge at home, and avoid occupying the vehicle while it’s charging.

• EMF Professionals – While some Building Biologists are excellent, there are also outstanding Independent EMF Consultants worth considering.

Meters: The 'new meter' isn't a 5G meter, it's a mmWave meter: https://www.westonaprice.org/health-topics/5g-negative-health-effects/#gsc.tab=0

Every home is as unique as the people living within. These guidelines are valuable—akin to general health advice like eating well, exercising, and drinking clean water—but they are not a guarantee of a livable EMF environment. Depending on the specific challenges in your home, even strict adherence may still leave you in an uninhabitable space. If possible, seek a trusted guide to help assess and remediate your unique environment effectively.
